About TYS
Trusting Your Story helps individuals develop a more multi-dimensional understanding of their own emotions and feelings, helping them to detach from their own unhealthy patterns or unchanging emotional loops. They will be better able to understand “the other side.”
Ultimately, it is only through such detachment that human beings can start to move towards each other to build a shared understanding—and in this way can the seeds of lasting harmony be sown.
At its core, the programme invites participants to explore their emotions through unexpected, often counterintuitive “frames.” For example, participants explore anger or hatred through a frame of laughter.
This is by no means asking the participant to trivialize, let alone “laugh at”, a traumatic event or experience. It is to provide an opportunity for these powerful negative emotions to be “rewired”.
Put another way, the experience that gave rise to one type of emotion can be seen—and felt in the body—in a radically different manner. Entrenched patterns and looping cycles of often unhelpful behavior and attitudes can be disrupted—and a positive rewiring can begin.
Participants in the Trusting Your Story require no formal training in movement or theater and no particular level of physical fitness. While serious and at times challenging, the workshop is designed to be enjoyable and highly interactive.
