PREETI VASUDEVAN
Preeti Vasudevan is an award-winning choreographer, cultural storyteller, and thought leader whose provocative theatrical works examine individual identity and bridge ancient traditions with contemporary performance and social dialectics. Her exploration began with extensive training in classical Indian dance Bharatanatyam, which she expanded through cultural scholarship in Japan and subsequent study in theater and global dance forms.
Preeti is the recipient of several prestigious awards and recognitions. She is the first Indian artist to receive the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, the Jerome Robbins Dance Division’s Dance Research Fellowship, and two coveted fellowships at The Center for Ballet and the Arts, NYU. Her works have also earned the highest awards in her native India, including three Mahindra Excellence in Theater Awards (META) and multiple META nominations. Her innovations have been supported by prominent global organizations, including TED, Centre National de la Danse (Paris), Lincoln Center (NY), and The Joyce Foundation.

Throughout her career, Preeti has collaborated with visionary artists and leading cultural institutions worldwide, earning distinguished awards and fellowships that recognize both her artistic rigor and social impact. As a U.S. Arts Ambassador, she advances cultural diplomacy through cross-cultural exchange, education, and artistic risk, building bridges across communities and borders.
As founder of Thresh, she is a trailblazer committed not only to choreography but to institution-building—cultivating a platform that elevates women’s voices and expands global storytelling through movement. Her legacy lives in the works she creates and the communities she brings together, ensuring dance remains a vital language of identity, memory, and connection.
