FOUNDER
PREETI VASUDEVAN
Preeti Vasudevan is a culture writer, award-winning choreographer, and leadership pioneer whose work radicalizes classical tradition to examine the social dialectics of our time. As the visionary behind the performing arts organization Thresh, she has established a 21st-century movement vocabulary that bridges Eastern and Western aesthetics through provocative, personal narratives.
A trailblazer for Indian artists, Preeti was the first Indian choreographer to receive the Emerging Choreographer Award from The Joyce Foundation and the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists. Her career is anchored by two decades of classical Bharatanatyam mastery, which she has expanded through rigorous creative research—including award-winning studies on ancient sun worship—and her status as a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA).
Beyond the stage, Preeti serves as a U.S. Department of State Arts Ambassador and Faculty at the American Dance Festival (ADF). She is the developer of Trusting Your Story (TYS), an embodied learning methodology that translates cultural movement wisdom into a tool for global leadership and advocacy. A three-time Mahindra Excellence in Theater Award (META) winner and member of the Lincoln Center Artist Committee, Preeti remains a vital voice in reclaiming and reshaping cultural heritage for modern social impact.
"The audience is taken aback, shocked, angered, saddened
or brought to laughter."
