NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
The piece I gave you for me is representing the black woman in her fullness! She is embracing her cultural background by wearing a wrap over her curly bun and African beaded earrings. You can feel her strength thru her straight gaze and you know she is good at what she does. Woman she is and you cannot dismiss her.
There is so much creativity in everyone of us artists, women artist; but for many reasons ( cultural, financial, educational, etc..) it is not always possible for us to freely express it . So when artists support each other, we all grown together. Interdisciplinary artistic collaboration is very important because it forces us to approach the work from a different perspective . It makes us breakdown our personal boundaries and challenge our concepts. We therefore move forwards in directions we would never have though on our own thus creating unconventional and culturally challenging artistic work!
