Movement classes in classical Indian dance, Bharatanatyam, are taught by the artistic director, Preeti Vasudevan, internationally acclaimed soloist in this style. Classes are offered for beginners, intermediate and advanced students in Bharatanatyam on a regular basis in New York and residencies in other cities. Training is offered in both practical and theoretical areas accompanied by appreciation classes in the culture and history of Indian arts.
Ms. Vasudevan’s studies in movement analysis (Laban Centre, London), has allowed her to develop a unique methodology in training dancers from all styles. Body conditioning is incorporated in training to create awareness of injury prevention for dancers and movement professionals.
Workshops and residencies by Thresh introduce participants to Ms. Vasudevan’s unique dance vocabulary incorporating classical Indian dance and western styles of movement. Workshops are available to both professional dancers and actors and to the general public with little or no prior dance experience.
