Stories by Hand, World Premiere
Preeti Vasudevan premieres her new solo production as the culmination of her two year residency at New York Live Arts. The first Indian choreographer to be invited as a Artist-in-Residence, Preeti collaborates with multimedia artist Paul Kaiser taking the hand gestures of Bharatanatyam (classical Indian dance) as the basis for a storytelling dance-theater interweaving east and west, past and present, the mythic and the everyday.
Season runs nov 2nd to Nov 4th with a post show discussion with legendary Bill T Jones on Nov 3rd.
Performing at the scenic outdoor venue of Jacob’s Pillow, Preeti and Amar perform their Etudes for the Inside/Out festival on August 11th 2017.
Thresh is performing at the New Victory Theater’s popular Victory Dance summer festival in NY. Me…You (from Etudes with Amar Ramasar) and Boxed (with Roopa Mahadevan) showcase both collaborations with non Indian dance forms (Ballet) and how classical Indian dance is experienced in a studio setting.
Shows run from July 26th till August 4th 2017
American College of Greece
Thresh performs excerpts from its two new productions-in-development in Athen, Greece. Preeti Vasudevan performs Etudes with Amar Ramasar (principal dancer, New York City Ballet) and then excerpts from her latest solo work, Stories by Hand (to be premiered on Nov 2nd 2017 in New York Live Arts, NY)
Preeti Vasudevan will be performing with her company Thresh at the famous Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, MA in August. Preeti performs two works – Boxed, a solo with two musicians and excerpts from her grand production, Veiled Moon (commissioned by and premiered at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY 2015).
The performance is for the Inside/Out Festival with the beautiful backdrop of the Berkshires.
Etudes (first draft) – with Amar Ramasar
As part of Preeti’s Fellowship at The Center for Ballet and the Arts, Etudes offers the first fruits of a collaboration between Preeti Vasudevan and Amar Ramasar, Principal dancer at New York City Ballet as two “classical” forms (western ballet and South Indian Bharatanatyam) collide and recombine.
Live Feed, NYLA 2015-16
Preeti Vasudevan is one of 6 creative artists invited as the 2015-16 Artist-in-Residence at the prestigious New York Live Arts (NYLA), NY, headed by the legendary choreographer Bill T Jones. Preeti is also the first Indian choreographer to be invited to develop a new work leading into a commissioned work to be premieres at NYLA.
Preeti’s new work is titles Stories by Hand, which is a collaboration with award winning multimedia artist Paul Kaiser and his company openended group.

Preeti will be the guest teacher at the National School of Drama in new Delhi, India introducing students of drama to the principles of Laban Movement and composition.

Veiled Moon – Save the Date!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art & Sunday at the MET present a new dance-theater extravaganza created by Preeti Vasudevan and her company Thresh on the life and works of Mah Laqa Bai Chanda, one of the most scintillating Muslim courtesans of 18th century southern India.
Veiled Moon will be preceded by a talk about the history and culture of Hyderabad by the celebrated writer-storyteller William Dalrymple
