Elif Işıközlü directs theatre and film. Theatre directing credits include Fernando Arrabal’s “Le Cimetière des voitures” (Comédie des deux rives, Ottawa), Michel Ouellette’s “Cercles Polaire” (Zones Théatrâles), assisting with Peter Hinton (National Arts Centre), David Danzon (CORPUS) and contributing choreography to “Overcome”, a film by Max Dean (Nuit Blanche Toronto). Her film series, ETUDES, merges camera, choreography, and occasionally Bach. Screenings include Festival International du Film sur l’Art, Montreal, Dance on Camera, New York, CFC’s Worldwide Short Film Festival, Vancouver 2010 Olympics CODE, Video Danza Buenos Aires, dança em foco, Brazil, with a Golden Sheaf Best Experimental Short nomination for “let go”. She is a Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council grant recipient, co-founder of Directors Lab North, Toronto and a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, New York. She holds an MA Dance Studies (Laban Center London, UK) and an MFA Directing, Theatre (University of Ottawa).
