Deesha’s memories of dancing go as far back as raas/garba,
a traditional folk dance which originated in Gujarat, India. She has participated in elaborately choreographed raas/garba competitions and received awards nationally. Deesha also studies Kathak and since 2006, has been continuing training under Parul Shah in NYC. During this time, Deesha has also had the great fortune of recieving training from Padma Bhushan Srimati Kumudini Lakhia, Smt. Sandhya Desai, and others at the Kadamb School of Dance and Music in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and performed with the Kadamb dance troupe in Delhi in 2008. In 2009, Deesha began additional dance training with Preeti Vasudevan, which led to performance in an innovative dance-education piece for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, November 2009.
